The corporate visa program is plagued by fraud and abuse. Today,
- It is legal for employers to discriminate against qualified Americans by firing them without cause and recruiting only H-1B guest workers to replace them.
- It is legal to hire H-1B even when a qualified U.S. worker wants the job and a U.S. worker can be displaced from the job in favor of a foreign worker."
In April, Senator Durbin introduced Bill S 887, to reform Corporate Visa Fraud and Abuse and protect American workers.
There's some great progress happening across the federal government to crack down on fraud and abuse. Corporate Greed run amok and bottomless lobbyist dollars created laws that benefit corporations, not people.

Hey mini:
It's kind of hostile against H1B or F1 student workers in the recent replies, the fact is H1B workers or vendors are usually more hard-working and getting lower payment compared with American employees since they got no guarantees unless they work harder and better than Americans. So if you're the boss, who you wanna have in your department/group?
I was working as vendor team lead in Redmond before and now I'm a F1-student.The fact is my team has done an excellent job then most of the work from Redmond team are transfered to our vendor team. And then some American guys was starting to blame us for that.
Actually most of the developing and testing work are out-sourced, all the American guys are doing is to have meeting, picnic, vacation, etc. They usually came at 10:30 AM and leaving at 4:00 PM, the job is like vacation for them.
And there're also many smart-talkers but doing nothing for the project, yes, that's the fact I've experienced by myself.
And then in the 1st round 5 or 6 such guys have been laid off, so why? They have no advantages than any H1B workers or vendors, then it's no surprise for them to be laid off.
So instead of blaming the H1B workers for taking your jobs away, pls ask yourself at first, do you really have any advantages than these H1B people? Are you smarter? More experienced? Or more hard-working? Then you will be more objective and rational about this.
